What We Do

At BurntToast® Marketing we specialise in consumer behaviour and use our insights to build powerful, successful brands for small business. Using research and our knowledge, we create easy to follow plans that increase your profile and assist you to engage proactively with your customers.

BurntToast® is a strategic marketing firm. This means that we are lateral thinkers who use long-term vision when helping you either grow or re-energise your business.

Our core specialty is marketing planning, which is based on our ability to interpret research and to draw-out what our sector calls “insights” - opportunities and challenges that may otherwise have been missed. We turn these insights into strategies (that is, easy to follow actions) that you can implement in your business, either by yourself or with the ongoing support of BurntToast®.

What does this actually mean?

Essentially, it means that we identify opportunities for you then develop plans that ensure you can take advantage of them. Depending on what we identify, we may recommend a combination of activities (such as promotions, events or publicity, a review of pricing structures, a review of distribution channels, or an internal marketing program), or conduct a review of business operations to see how they align with your marketing goals.

It also means that if the vision you have for your marketing has become a little fuzzy, or the customers that you're targeting are no longer responding, we help to sharpen your focus and put you back in front of your audience. If you're not sure of who you're talking to and why, chances are your customers are not sure either and they'll hesitate to buy from you.

How do we work with you?

Our work is specifically tailored for small business owners and managers, so we use a variety of techniques that are designed to fit at different stages of planning or growth.

In-house marketing workshops are designed to clarify your goals and uncover opportunities for your business. The result will be a marketing action plan that you can easily implement, with or without ongoing support.

Our support program is designed to help keep you on track with achieving your marketing goals. Offered via pre-scheduled monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly review meetings, our marketing support packs are tailored to your particular needs.

Customer research is designed to help you uncover opportunities for growth. Using tools such as video diaries, online surveys, customer interviews and focus groups, we'll look at what your customers really want from your business, then turn this into plans that you can use to help you grow.

At this point your business may have a website. You may also have a collection of print ads, TV and radio ads, brochures, business cards, email newsletters, customer questionnaire forms, and maybe even a shop front or retail outlet. But ask yourself 3 important questions:

  1. Are these pieces all working together?;
  2. Do you know how they drive traffic to your website?; and
  3. Does your website have its own set of business goals?
If the answer is no, you may benefit from an online business plan.

Your next step?

Sharpen your focus and get your messaging back on track. You'll be surprised at how quickly you may re-engage your customers. If you're not quite sure of your next step, drop us a line and ask for specialist advice.
